It Ends with Us – merupakan novel karya Colleen Hoover, bisa dibilang novel Hoover terlaris sejak menjadi trending di platform TikTok atau yang biasa warga TikTok sebut sebagai #BookTok. 

Novel ‘It Ends with Us’ mengangkat cerita soal abusive relationship dan first love. Memiliki tokoh utama bernama Lily Bloom, seorang wanita yang memiliki florist atau toko bunga yang di sini diceritakan jatuh cinta kepada seorang pria bernama Ryle Kincaid yang berprofesi sebagai neurosurgeon atau ahli bedah saraf pada malam pertama mereka bertemu dan kisah ini dimulai dari awal pertemuan Lily dan Ryle hingga mereka menjalin hubungan. 

Atlas Corrigan, cinta pertama Lily di masa SMA yang Lily tak sengaja temui di sebuah restoran di Boston. Pertemuan dengan Lily dengan Atlas selalu mengundang kemarahan Ryle kepada Lily. Ryle merupakan orang yang tempramen dan penuh rasa cemburu, dari sini lah kekerasan Ryle terhadap Lily dimulai. 

Sedangkan novel ‘It Starts with Us’ – merupakan sekuel dari novel ‘it Ends with Us’ yang menceritakan perjalanan Lily dan bagaimana Lily bisa survive dari kekerasan yang ia alami. 

Opiniku 🙋🏻‍♀️

Begitupun juga aku, pertama kali tahu novel ini atas rekomendasi-rekomendasi BookTok dan ternyata aku pun suka sekali dengan cerita di novel ‘It Ends with Us’. Novel ini bagus dibaca untuk perempuan. Selain karena ceritanya mudah dibaca dan dimengerti, tapi juga mengangkat isu kekerasan, keangkuhan, percintaan yang tidak sehat. Oleh karena itu, sangat aku rekomendasikan untuk kalian baca. 

Selain bisa bermanfaat untuk kita belajar dan mengenal dari abusive relationship kita juga diberi insight bagaimana membantu teman atau kerabat kita yang sedang mengalami abusive relationship itu untuk keluar. 

Namun, menurutku novel ‘It Starts with Us tidak begitu seru atau boleh dibilang cerita Lily sudah cukup sampai di novel ‘It Ends with Us’ saja karena pesan-pesan moral yang penulis ingin sampaikan telah cukup di novel ‘It Ends with Us’

It Ends with Us – the most famous novel by Colleen Hoover as it became popular on TikTok with the #BookTok hashtag. 

The 'It Ends with Us' novel is about abusive relationships and first love. With the main character named Lily Bloom, a woman who owns a florist or flower shop who falls in love with a man named Ryle Kincaid who works as a neurosurgeon, this story starts from the beginning of Lily and Ryle's meeting until they establish a relationship. 

Atlas Corrigan, Lily's first love in high school who accidentally met Lily at a restaurant in Boston. Lily's encounters with Atlas always bring Ryle's anger towards Lily. Ryle is a temperamental and jealous person, this is where Ryle's violence towards Lily begins. 

While the novel 'It Starts with Us' - is a sequel to the 'It Ends with Us' novel which tells Lily's journey and how Lily can survive the violence she experienced. 

Nora’s Mind

I also know this novel from BookTok's recommendations and eventually I really like the story in 'It Ends with Us'. This novel is a good read for women. Not only because the story is easy to read and understand, but it also raises issues of violence, arrogance, and unhealthy relationships. Therefore, I highly recommend you to read it. 

Besides being useful for us to learn and recognize abusive relationships, we are also given insight into how to help our friends or relatives who are experiencing abusive relationships to get out. 

However, in my opinion, the 'It Starts with Us' novel is not so exciting or you could say that Lily's story is over in the 'It Ends with Us' novel because the moral messages that the author wants to convey are enough in the novel 'It Ends with Us'.
